Why base matters
Alberta freeze-thaw is brutal
Most asphalt failures aren't asphalt problems — they're base problems. Water gets under a poorly graded surface, freezes, heaves and cracks the mat apart. We grade for runoff and build a compacted gravel base so the surface stays where we put it.
